Activist organizations preyed on this lack of oversight and have successfully injected books containing anti-American, pro-Marxist ideology, books that promote racial division, books depicting scenes of pornographic acts, and even including pedophilia. 

After recent discoveries of inappropriate books found in various school districts across the nation, many parents have been asking how they can see what books are being made available to their children. 

Below I outline how to manually search your district’s school library, but first check out “Take Back the Classroom” who did all the hard work of scraping data from nearly every government school, locating these questionable books! Simply amazing work by “Karen England, the Kitchen Table Activist”

Take Back the Classroom - Delaware Books¹

A book with this content is NEVER appropriate on elementary school shelves, yet it sits on the shelf of Appoquinimink School District's Oliver B. Loss elementary school

These are books found in ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS!

Imagine my surprise at the abundance of grotesque content within Stephen King's novels

The above book “This Book is Gay" is found in Caesar Rodney Middle School, ad well as many other Delaware middle schools through the Delaware Dept. Of Education funded “Sora” online book app.²

Some books may appear innocent enough, but never judge a book by it's cover! Yikes!!

There are many organizations pushing these so-called “banned books”, yet I have never seen Harriet Beecher Stowe’s “Uncle Tom's Cabin” on any of those displays - the poster child of banned books.

Remember, if a book is on display to buy or borrow, it's not banned!

I believe the content presented above, which is seen prominently presented on these “banned books" displays speaks for itself.

There are many organizations invested into getting divisive, anti-family, unAmerican sexualized content into the hands of children

By using Destiny Discover by Follet Software³ you can search the online book catalog of a specific school. (For Brandywine School District, it only works when searching individual schools within the district - a district wide search yields an error page)

Parents of Carmel School District compiled this list of books which are a cause for concern:

As time has gone on, parents have become more organized. Hundreds of parents have been taking on the task of reading these books found to be obscene & sexual in nature. A rating system has been developed to help parents recognize the content of the books in their children’s school libraries. Some school districts have adopted this rating system.

When an obscene or sexually inappropriate book is found, follow this process⁶ to work with your school's principal to get it removed from your school.

The Left’s Narrative About ‘Book Banning’ Is Bogus⁹

Like and Follow the Facebook page, LaVerna in the Library¹⁰ (Previously “Mary in the Library”) for books that parents reported which they’ve found in their respective schools.

Be mindful of "Classroom Libraries". They contain books that can be read, but can not be checked out and brought home. This in and of itself is not always a cause for concern, but for a teacher with anti-American woke values - or lack thereof - this can be extremely detrimental to any students. Teachers have near 100% control of which books are brought into the classroom. While we do respect the teachers’ freedom to use the resources that they feel can best teach the students, we are concerned about what they teach the students.

Whenever you have the opportunity, look at what books are on the classroom bookshelves. Do not be hesitant to ask your child's teacher what books are being read. In fact, it is encouraged and we would expect any well intentioned teacher would welcome the parent's involvement in their child's education.

This is not about censorship. There is an appropriate place for every book, be it a public library, or an adult section of a bookstore. K-12 school libraries are not that place!
